The importance of study

ago 19, 2019

Normally I don’t like talking about me, but in this case I thought it was necessary to share some of my story to inspire other participants.

Most of my life it was me, my mom and my brother for everything. Although I met my dad, I could never count on him for anything and I actually regret meeting him, it was a very unpleasant experience.

However, it was thanks to those disappointments and everything I had to go through that I saw the need to get qualification in an area I identify with. Besides that, I have worked most of my life, since I was 13 years old, against my mom’s will.

I admit I don’t really enjoy studying but I know how important it is, so I always give all of me on everything I do. My biggest motivation to keep studying is so my future children don’t have to have go through what I did and also so my own future is not like my past.

I met DLW through the Abrigo Rainha Silvia, one of DLW’s partner NGO, and now I’m having the opportunity to take my first course, which had which has provided me with amazing experiences, both from places I have known, as well as networking and learning. I also discovered a new area, the maritime area, which was amazing.

Five years from now I find myself attending law school or business school, but until I get there I intend to work in the area that I now know thanks to DLW and I really like, the maritime area.
