Our last graduation for 2015 was held in November at the Karanba base in São Gonçalo. There we celebrated the 24 participants from our social partners Karanba and Abrigo which had concluded courses through us this year. The celebration was a great success and many family members and friends joined the event that was filled with happiness and emotions.
One of Dream Learn Work’s top priorities is to make the participants understand the importance of concluding what is started. When participants enter our educational program this is a point we talk much about, along with other important factors such as determination, motivation and punctuality. To celebrate the conclusion of a course we annually arrange a Dream Learn Work graduation to motivate continuity of the educational path the participants are on.
Presents from DNB - and a surprise
On the 24th of November we arranged the graduation for Karanba and Abrigo participants at Karanba with the company of corporate partners such as DNB and Rolls-Royce. DNB had prepared presents for all the graduates, including a backpack with the Dream Learn Work logo, a DNB notebook and a pen. Included in the gift, was a personalized card from DNB employees in Rio de Janeiro. As an additional surprise, DNB held a lottery where one of the graduates won a Samsung Galaxy Tablet.
During the graduation ceremony Arne-Christian Haukeland, Head of DNB Brazil, held a speech where he went back to when he was a student and how working hard during and after the studies paid of and where he is today is a result of his determination. Our corporate partners are essential for our participants and we are so thankful for the participation and the strong presence DNB contributed with on this event.
A bright future and role models
Three of the participants also held graduation speeches. Diellie Sena, is at the moment employed as a youth apprentice by Rolls-Royce, told the story of her involvement with DLW and how her dream about university is becoming reality. These stories are very important for all the young people that might one day take the step and enter DLW. Several potential DLWers also participated at the event to learn and be inspired.
We in Dream Learn Work thank all our corporate partners, NGO partners and graduated participants for a successful year and we look forward for new graduations with new participants in the end of next year.
